Marius the Giraffe
His death was something of a gaffe
The scene of his killing was Copenhagen Zoo
Who deemed his life to be of no genetic value
Marius was a healthy two-year old giraffe who was euthanised as his genes were deemed to be of no value to the continuation of the species. Despite receiving a number of offers to rehouse him, the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria decided it would be better if he was shot with a Winchester rifle, dissected and then fed to the other animals in the zoo. For my part I feel I deserve I get extra points for working the whole Copenhagen/’The Killing’ reference. I know you saw it.
