Welcome to The View from Airstrip One.

It’s just my corner of the Internet. There’s no rhyme, no reason; if I feel like writing something, this is where I put it. I write about things that are on my mind and music that I can’t get out of my mind. I write for me and if you like it, bonus.

I was born in Chesterfield, home of wonky wonder The Crooked Spire, but raised in books. I write things, usually words, I take photos, and I make mixtapes using with Ableton.

I’m interested in pretty much everything except country and western music. I like seeing how things work, and especially how things stop working, whether it’s the mind of an individal, the workings of a team, the investigation into the Yorkshire Ripper or the tsunami early warning system in Japan.

I’m interested in the structure of stories and myths and narratives and poetry, how we use archetypal stories to tell larger narratives and how we can make almost anything more interesting and engaging by wrapping it up in a story (not country and western music).

I’m interested in technology, especially when it’s linked to learning, communication, making and playing music (not country and western), or walking around Skyrim with a giant sword.

Like I said, I’m interested in pretty much everything. Just as long as it doesn’t have an achey-breaky heart.

There’s really no good reason for you to get in touch with me. I already know an awful lot of people and until one of them dies, I couldn’t possibly meet anyone else.
